Meet The Owner
Why, hello! My name is Josie Gage, and I am the owner of Gage Point Designs. I am also a junior at Fort Hays State University with the goal of becoming a shop teacher. I am so glad that you found my brand and decided to stop by!
For the longest time, I have wanted to create my own business; however, I didn't think I would actually do it! After my first year of college, I worked to better myself on the wood lathe and eventually fell in love. Nothing compares to the feeling of chipping away at a block of wood to reveal what form, what story, is waiting underneath the surface!
That feeling led me to designing my own business because I do not want the story to end with me. I want people to be able to own a quality piece and appreciate every step that it took for it to be in their own hands. That is the story that I want to tell.
The Gage Point Designs Logo
When I figured out my story, I sort of figured I would need a name for my business. While brainstorming, I thought it would be cool to incorporate my last name: Gage. I also came across the phrase gauge point, which is a reference point from which measurements are taken in gauging, the precise measuring of size, dimensions, or other measurable quantities. Once I added all the elements together, I got my business name: Gage Point Designs.
After many ideas and sketches, I finally settled on my business's logo to the right. In the center of a circle, you have the Gage initial "G", accompanied by a dot, which represents the point. On the outside of the circle, you have six connected and closed arcs. In the Gage family, we have six members: my parents, older sister, myself, and my two younger brothers. This element of the Gage Point Designs logo is a tribute to my family because without them, I never would have had a chance to accomplish all that I have.
Meet The Family
Now, I obviously can't talk about my family without introducing them!
Starting from the left is my older sister Jeanie, and she is a second grade teacher. Next to her is me, and on the other side is my mother Tina, a first grade teacher of over 20 years! The fourth in line is my younger brother Josh, a complete whiz at fixing anything, and on his right is my father Jeff. He has been working on jet engines for General Electric for 26 years. Finally, the one on the far right is Josiah, my youngest brother and is fondly known as our "red-headed step child".
